Igal Azoulay is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the boundaries of material and form. His artistic journey began with a deep connection to metal, which has accompanied

him since his military service as a tank inspector in Battalion 334, a heavy mortar unit. During the Yom Kippur War, Azoulay was wounded, and after a period of rehabilitation,

he joined the Israel Police, where he managed the regional automotive maintenance police center of the Southern District, in Eilat. However, his great love for metal did not fade but instead became a source of inspiration for his first works—vivid figures created from car spare parts. Azoulay's works are characterized by a unique combination of rigid material and the ability to imbue it with shape, movement, and meaning. The tension between strength and softness is present in all his creations, carrying a fascinating dialogue between material and emotion. About 20 years ago, he presented an exhibition at Beit Halochem in Tel Aviv, which led him to a new journey of creation and teaching. At the initiative of the late Jolti (may his memory be blessed) the-director of the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense, Azoulay began instructing IDF disabled veterans that suffer from combat stress at the “Hatzav Club” in Kfar Saba. From this activity, and with the help of donations, he established a

blacksmithing and iron sculpture workshop, which became a space for creation and healing. Over the years, Azoulay was exposed to additional materials such as wood, glass, and clay, which expanded his artistic language. His works combine diverse techniques, vibrant colors, and influences from different styles and cultures, presenting a rich world of expression and personal statement.
